A Stunning Local Walk In Fermanagh

A Stunning Local Walk In Fermanagh

Take a stroll up Derrin Mountain - breath taking beauty

Take the local walk to the top of Derrin Mountain (more of a hill than a mountain) and enjoy spectacular scenery. The pictures say it all!

Walk along the drive to St John’s Church. Pass through the wooden pedestrian gate behind the church. Please shut the gate – we don’t want farm animals getting out! Walk along the side of the church and leave the field through the farm gate. Please shut the gate. Bear right and walk along the road (B136) passing the white church hall on your right until you reach the lane to Aghnablaney Farm Cottage on your right. Immediately opposite still on the road (and on your left) enter through the double farm gates onto the steep lane that heads into the woodland. Please shut the gate. Walk through the woodland bearing left at the fork in the lane. If you are quiet you stand a great chance of seeing a variety of wild life, including red squirrel, wild deer and various native birds. The lane opens out into open farm land and mountain grazing terrain. Continue until you reach the old quarry. Above the quarry, about 200m ahead and slightly to your right you will see a small clump of whin bushes (green with yellow flowers). This is the highest point (marked stone) and best viewing point. Time for a spot of lunch or a drink at least!

Wellies or walking boots essential.
